English: The Patuxent Research Refuge — a National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland, and the only one established to support wildlife research.
  • The refuge is on over 12,800 acres (52 km2) of land, surrounding the Little Patuxent and Patuxent Rivers, between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore in Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties.
  • The National Wildlife Visitor Center natural history museum and the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center are located near the Laurel area.
