English: The eighth generation Oldsmobile 88 was built from 1977 until 1985. The lineup continued as before, with the Delta 88 as the base version and with the Delta 88 Royale on top. In 1979 the even more luxurious Delta 88 Royale Brougham was added. For 1984 the base Delta 88 was dropped, but at mid-year a new Royale Brougham LS model was added to make up for the demise of the Ninety-Eight. These three models (Royale, Royale Brougham, and Royale Brougham LS) continued to be available through 1985. The similar Custom Cruiser wagon, however, continued to be built until 1990.
