The National Arts Club, at 15 Gramercy Park (South), Manhattan, New York, formerly the home of Samuel J. Tilden, Governor of New York and Presidential candididate in 1876. Calvert Vaux, one of the creators of Central Park, created the house in 1881-84 from two row houses built in 1845. The Club took over the building in 1906. It was designated a New York City landmark in 1966 and named a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
