Municipal Pier No. 9, also known as the Cherry Street Pier, located on N. Christoper Columbus Blvd. just south of the Race Street Pier (which was Municipal Pier No. 11), was constructed by the city in 1919 to improve commerce in the city. It was operated by the United Fruit Company. In 2011, the Delware River Waterfront Corporation began to explore the renovation and revitalization of the structure.
