English: A monochrome relief print is an object displaying a printed pattern created by pressing an inked relief surface on the object, typically paper. Non-photographic reliefs are made by a variety of techniques, such as woodcutting, engravure, and etching. The illustrations of early books are woodcuts. Printed type is a relief print, but what is usually meant by the term is the printed illustrations. A "print" is an illustration not designed to be in a book.
