Deutsch: Unter einem Raketensilo versteht man eine unterirdische Abschussvorrichtung für militärische Raketen, insbesondere nukleare Interkontinentalraketen. Zweck eines Silos ist es, ein schnelles Abfeuern der Rakete zu ermöglichen und sie vor äußeren Einflüssen einschließlich eines gegnerischen Angriffs mit Kernwaffen zu schützen.

English: A missile launch facility, also known as an underground missile silo or launch facility (LF), is an underground vertical cylindrical container for the storage and launching of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). They typically have the missile some distance under the surface, protected by a large "blast door" on top. They are usually connected, either physically or electrically, to a missile launch control center.
