Marina Kazimirovna Osipova, Ph.D. (Russian: Осипова Марина Казимировна) - born May 8, 1974 in St. Petersburg - is a Russian ballet instructor, choreographer, and artistic director. She is the author of methodology manuals and numerous scientific articles on classical dance, as well as the book: Professional Training of Future Ballet Dancers to Perform Allegro.

Education


From 1984 to 1992, Marina Osipova studied at the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy in the Faculty of Performing Arts, majoring as a “Ballet Dancer”.

She then joined the Mussorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, Saint-Petersburg, Russia as a Classical Ballet Dancer. In 2000 Marina went to continue her education at the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy, for the degree as a Teacher of Classical Dance.

From 2005 to 2010 Marina got her postgraduate degree from the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy with a specialty in “Theory and Methodology of Professional Education.”

In 2011 she defended her Ph.D. thesis on the subject of “Professional education of ballet dancers in jumping exercises” at the Herzen State Pedagogical University, Saint-Petersburg.

Professional experience & Career:


Upon graduation from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, Osipova joined the Russian Ballet Company. After that, she worked for 13 years at the Mussorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, Saint-Petersburg, Russia, with whom she toured Japan, France, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Malta, and Great Britain.

Meanwhile, from 2000 to 2013 she was working as a teacher of classical dance in the Vaganova Ballet Academy, focusing on methodology of solo classical and duet classical dance. Osipova was also working at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Seoul (the subsidiary of the Vaganova Academy) for six months. Osipova’s students were winners of Korea Ballet Association Competition and Seoul International Ballet Competition.

From 2013 to 2015, Marina was hired as a Deputy Artistic Director, Head of the Department of Classical Dance, and the teacher of classical dance by the Boris Eifman Dance Academy, Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

In the period of 2015 - 2018, Marina Osipova worked in the Institute of Theatrical Art in Moscow, Russia as a Professor at the Department of Choreography, with the focus on “methodology in teaching classical dance”.

From 2018 to the present day, Marina Osipova has lived in California, USA and worked as a Teacher of Classical Dance, Ballet and Contemporary instructor.

In 1992-2012, Marina Osipova was a Principal Ballet Dancer in the “Russian Ballet” team and The Mussorgsky (Mikhailovsky) Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she had main parts in ballet such as

  • Swan Lake - (Cygnets, Neapolitan dance, Spanish dance, Pas de trois, Mazurka),
  • Giselle - (Giselle's Friend. Wills variation, Classical Duet),

  • La Bayadere - (3rd Shade Variation, Bayaderes )
  • Le Corsaire - (Trio of Odalisques)
  • The Nutcracker - (Waltz of the Snowflakes, Waltz of the Flowers, Orient Dance )

Membership & Awards


Ms. Osipova was a jury member of the International Moscow Competition young performers classical, folk stage and modern choreography “Dance Moscow 2016-2019”. She worked as a member jury and expert, along with information about the Director of the competition.

Ms. Osipova served as a judge for the International Choreographic competition performers “Art Start”. Marina Osipova work as a member of the jury and her expertise in estimating the participants of the competition in 2018-2019
