Mala Bholsa is a 127 metres (417 ft) coastal hill of northern Islay on the west side. It is the basis for Rubha Bholsa, the promontory. The geographic locality, Bolsa, is adjacent to the inland foot of the hill. On its western side the hill drops off steeply in the form of an amphitheater, Aonan na Mala. As Mala Bholsa is visible from a distance, and marks a change in the direction of the coast, the abbreviated north coast is also called the Bolsa Coast.
