English: Makro is a Belgian chain of Warehouse clubs, also called cash and carries. The first one opened in 1968 in Diksmuide, West Flanders. In the following years stores opened in the Netherlands and in several other countries within Europe. During the 1970s and 1980s Makro extended its business to the Americas and Asia. Makro later closed its North American sites, however. The stores are not open to the general public, only to businesses which must be registered members in order to gain entry to the store.

Nederlands: Makro is een zelfbedieningsgroothandel (een groothandel opgezet als een supermarkt). Het bedrijf is opgezet door de Nederlandse Steenkolen Handelsvereniging (SHV). Per 1 januari 1998 heeft SHV de Europese Makro's verkocht aan de Duitse METRO Group, eigenaar van onder andere Mediamarkt.
Português: O Makro é uma cadeia de lojas atacadistas self-service, do tipo designado por "cash and carrie", fundado em 1968 na Holanda, tendo rapidamente aberto lojas em outros países Europeus. Nas décadas de 70 e 80 a cadeia estendeu as suas atividades à América e Ásia. Contudo a cadeia viria a fechar as suas lojas nos EUA. Antigamente o Makro tinha como clientes apenas empresas e consumidores registrados como membros. As lojas atualmente estão abertas ao público em geral clientes consumidores e clientes profissioanais.
