This is a 12th century Shiva temple. A stone temple, it has a moulded base, a small mandapa and a sanctum with Shiva linga. On the top of the sanctum is a pyramidal sikhara with an amalaka. The walls are relatively plain. The design is a blend of mostly Dravida and some Nagara architecture. The significance of this Shiva temple is in being one of many historic Hindu temples in Bastar region and south Chhattisgarh by the 12th century.

This temple is also called Ancient Shiva temple of Bastar, or Bastar Mahadeva mandir.
