Deutsch: Die Himmelfahrtkirche ist eine Kirche am Baukomplex der Kaiserin-Auguste-Viktoria-Stiftung (oder Ölbergstiftung, heute auf Englisch meist: Augusta Victoria), der heute im Wesentlichen ein Krankenhaus sowie ein evangelisches Pilgerzentrum umfasst. Die Kirche - wie der ganze Komplex - wurde bei einem Erdbeben 1927 beschädigt. Die Himmelfahrtkirche wurde 1988-1991 umfassend renoviert und als Seelsorge- und Pilgerzentrum wiedereröffnet.
English: The Protestant (Lutheran) Ascension Church (German: Himmelfahrtkirche) is part of the Augusta Victoria compound, comprising a hospital and the church. The architect was Robert Leibnitz. The mosaics are by Puhl & Wagner. The Ascension Church is in East Jerusalem, on the northern side of the Mount of Olives. The earthquake of 1927 severely damaged the the church and other buildings of the compound. Repairs and renovations continued throughout the 1930s. After a thorough renovation and statical stabilisation between 1988 and 1991, the church reopened as a Protestant centre for pastoral care and to welcome pilgrims.
