English: The Los Angeles Tanabata Festival (Japanese: ロサンゼルス七夕祭り Rosanzerusu Tanabata Matsuri) is an annual Tanabata festival that is held in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. It overlaps with the Nisei Week Festival and is treated as an event of the latter. The official Nisei Week website lists it as a community event rather than a festival event, but it is cosponsored by the Nisei Week Foundation and the official Nisei Week logo is printed on the Tanabata Festival banner as visible on some of the photos here. The 6th Tanabata Festival, whose theme was Wish upon the Stars, took place on August 9 and 10, following the opening ceremony on Friday, August 8, 2014. A kazari (paper ornament streamers) exhibit was held on Monday, August 11. Among the numerous kazari were ten that had won prizes in Sendai and a large one that had been constructed specifically for this event by a Sendai paper company. Awa dancers performed on stage. Various Southern California kenjinkai (prefecture associations), food vendors and local stores had booths throughout the event area between the Japanese American National Museum and the Go for Broke Monument. 16 tsunami-surviving high school students from Sendai also participated in the 2014 Tanabata Festival.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

日本語: ロサンゼルス七夕祭りはロサンゼルスのリトル・トーキョーで毎年夏に行われるイベント。二世週祭とほぼ重なり、二世週祭のイベントの1つとして扱われている。二世週祭の公式サイトでは、二世週祭基金主催のイベント一覧ページではなく、同時期に開催される各種コミュニティ・イベントの一覧ページに掲載されているが、ここにある写真のいくつかに見られるように、七夕祭りのバナーには二世週祭の公式ロゴが印刷されており、二世週祭基金の共催であることが明記されている。第6回ロサンゼルス七夕祭りは、開会式が2014年8月8日、イベントそのものが同9日と10日に行われ、飾りの展示が11日まで続いた。数多くの飾りのうち、10点は仙台の七夕祭りでの受賞作が提供された。また、大きな飾りが1点、仙台の製紙会社によってこのイベントのために特別製作された。特設舞台では阿波踊りが披露された。全米日系人博物館と第442連隊戦闘団記念碑 (Go for Broke Monument) の間に特設された会場全体にわたり、南カリフォルニア県人会、地元ビジネスや食べ物のブースが並んだ。
