English: Jerusalem Baptist Church is located at 2600 P Street NW in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Built in 1915 with expansions and alterations in 1922 and the 1950s, the church is designated a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District. The congregation was founded in 1870 by former slave Reverend Sandy Alexander, Reverend William Gibbon, and other Baptists, and originally known as Seventh Baptist Church. The congregation first met in a Quaker building at 17th and N Streets NW, and later in buildings on 19th Street NW between R and S, M Street NW between 25th and 26th, and the Good Samaritan Hall in Georgetown.
