Ordered by the Soviet Union in 1937.
The parts of the crane (built at DEMAG Duisburg, Germany) and the hull (built at shipyard Howaltswerke Kiel, Germany) were transported to Leningrad in early 1941. The completion of the crane ship in Leningrad was done by DEMAG.
Works were stopped on 22 Juni 1941 by DEMAG due to the German attack against the Soviet Union.
Completed in Kronstadt after WWII by the Soviet Union.
