English: Horses gaping their mouth at the bit, i.e. opening their jaws. This is often a sign of apprehension, discomfort, or pain due to current (or a history of) harsh or ill-fitting bit, rough use of reins, or aggravation of primary mouth pain while bridled. Please note that minor, relaxed mouth-opening, or yawning, while bitted, is not gaping.
