The Hillman Cooperative Houses at 500, 530 & 550 Grand Street between Columbia and Lewis Streets in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City were built in 1951 and designed by Springsteen & Goldhammer for Abraham Kazan of the United Housing Foundation, two decades after Khazan's pioneering Amalgamated Dwelling project – designed by the same firm – for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers union. While the earler project is built surrounding a central courtyard, displaying the influence of Michel de Klerk, the Hillman Houses were more influenced by Le Corbusier's "Tower in a Park" model.
