A normal analog watch with a 12 hour dial does not tell the user if the displayed time corresonds to, e.g., 3 o'clock at night or 3 o'clock in the afternoon (hence 15.00). In some situations, this may pose a real problem, for example if the wearer of the watch is on an elongated tour over more than one day in a mountain cave, or differently also for people travelling large distances by airplane. So-called GMT watches typically have a second, additional hour hand which revolves one time per 24 hours, and also have an additional scale showing hours 1 to 24. Another way to adress this issue is to initially design the single main hour hand to rotate once every 24 hours, which is for example realized in some watches of Breitling.
