English: Approximately six linear feet of Psychological Operations (PSYOPs) material collected by General Fred Walker, USAF during his service in Vietnam and the Pentagon. The materials cover World War II, Korea, and Russia, but the bulk of the material is from the Vietnam War. The collection begins with historical PSYOPs materials from before the Vietnam War, including unit reports, training materials, psychological operations manuals and analysis. The materials from Vietnam can be broken into several categories: handbooks and training materials, short-term analysis, unit reports, studies and long-term analysis, and pamphlets. This collection contains materials that describe how a psychological operations unit operated, explains how the pamphlets were made, and includes examples of the analysis and surveys performed by the unit to help them create their message. There are also copies of training manuals from the military psychological operations training school, and unit reports from several psychological operations units serving in Vietnam. Items of special note are the collection of propaganda pamphlets and publications produced by the United States and the enemy. Many of the publications have an attachment that includes a translation of the document, distribution numbers and locations, and an outline of the the general purpose of the document. The collection also includes transcripts of TV and radio propaganda broadcasts.
