English: Artistic and pictorial representations of the founding myth of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, according to which the god Huitzilopochtli ordered the pilgrims from Aztlan to found the city where they observed "an eagle standing on a cactus devouring a snake". The site of the finding was an islet of Lake Texcoco.
