English: Louisiana has had 5 capital cities. The 1st was New Orleans and the city served as the capital multiple times; the 2nd was Donaldson (now Donaldsonville), the 3rd was Baton Rouge, the 4th was Opelousas during the American Civil War, and the 5th was Shreveport, also during the American Civil War. Following the Civil War, New Orleans became the capital again until 1882, when the capital returned to Baton Rouge.
