English: The First Baptist Church at 265 West 79th Street at the intersection with Broadway in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1890-93 and was designed by George Keister in an eclectic version of Italian Romanesque Revival architecture. It is angled 45 degrees to the street, and features asymmetrical towers, with the southern four-tiered tower representing Christ as the head of the church, while the single-tiered tower to the north symbolizes the church on Earth, which is not complete until the return of Christ. The congregation was organized in 1745, and had four previous sanctuaries elsewhere in Manhattan before its current one.
