Firestone opened for business in this building on January 25, 1930 with a gala grand opening featuring a vaudeville show and 10-piece orchestra. Governor Roland Hartley, mayor Frank Edwards and Firestone Vice-president R.J. Cope were in attendance. Firestone remained in this building for 86 years until 2016, when the building was purchased and gutted to build a high rise behind the façade, which is a protected landmark.
