English: There is considerable confusion about the painter, or painters, of this name. His life dates are alternately given as 1800–1897 or 1850–1940, or just a work period of 1880–1920, or second half of the 19th century, is given. It is possible that there are two different painters of the same or very similar names, however all the paintings in this category have a very distinct signature (E. Forti/Roma) and so are obviously from the same artist. Until further evidence surfaces, the later life dates have been chosen, to err on the safe side as far as copyrights are concerned.
