The East of Fife Railway, founded in 1855, ran initially from Leven to Kilconquhar. In 1861 it was expanded to run from Thornton, serving coastal villages, to St Andrews. Stations on the line included Cameron Bridge, Leven, Lundin Links, Largo, Kilconquhar, St Monans, Pittenweem and Anstruther. It ceased operations in 1964.link
