English: The "Driftwood Shales" are an undescribed early Eocene (Ypresian) geologic formation in the Oootsa Group that records the sedimentation in the northern most of a string of highland subtropical/temperate lakes in Washington state and British Columbia called the Eocene Okanagan Highlands. The formation is best known for exceptionally well preserved insect and fish fossils and the Driftwood Canyon Provincial Park
