English: The Dorchester Heights were a set of hills on the western park of Dorchester Neck in what is now South Boston, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. (Sometimes Dorchester Heights is used to refer to a single hill, Telegraph Hill.) The Dorchester Heights were originally separated from city of Boston by the harbor, and from the town of Dorchester by the eastern side of the Dorchester Neck, but the harbor has since been filled into create South Boston. Dorchester Heights is most famous for the Dorchester Heights Monument (on Telegraph Hill), which commemorates the Continental Army staging cannons (from Henry Knox's Fort Ticonderoga Expedition) on the hills in March 1776, which led the British army occupying Boston to depart.
