Diorama made using a model of Néréide, sister-ship of Artémise.
On 20 April 1839, as she was circumnavigating the globe under Captain Laplace, Néréide ran agroud at Papeete (Thaiti), destroying the rudder, part of the keel, and breeching the hull. The frigate had to make do with a makeshift careening. Model workshop of Musée national de la Marine, upon information provided by Admiral Pâris (former first officer of Artémise)
