Denon Link or today Denon Link HD (product/feature names) is a proprietary technology developed by the Hi-Fi company Denon. It serves for the audio connection (only, for video a separate extra HDMI cable is needed) of DVD and BluRay players with amplifiers like an AV receiver, and is limited to devices of this manufacturer. Versions from 2000s models used sockets and plugs similar, but not identical to RJ45 sockets (well-known as the standard connector in the Ethernet computer network technology) on the devices, the corresponding cables were also sold by Denon. The company states that Denon Link allegedly delivers, caused by a number of technical features, a quality of sound transmission superior to other digital audio standards. Amongst people owning Denon devices equipped with this technology, Denon Link competes with the HDMI standard. In the 2013 models like the AV receiver Denon AVR-4520 9.2, the interface had been changed to have the name "Denon Link HD" and the connector on the devices was then (and is in 2023) an RCA (Cinch) connector (Source).
