Te Deme family of Echizen, a Japanese dynasty of sculptors of Nō (the dance-drama) theatrical masks and netsuke tracing its origin to 1500s when a woodcarving artist, who was born in Deme, a town in Echizen Province (now belongs to Fukui Province), took his birthplace name as his own. The Deme family included, among others:

  • Deme Jikan Yoshimitsu (d. 1616), also known as Ono, or Kizan, or Sukezaemon. Originally an armourer of Echizen; became a sculptor of masks after moving to Yamashiro. In 1595 received the art title of Tenka-icbi from the Taiko. Entered the Takugawa service.}}
  • Deme Yukan Mitsuyasu (d. 1652), the son of Jikan Yoshimitsu also called Sukezaemon.
  • Deme Tōhaku Mitsutaka (1633-1715).
  • Deme Tosui Mitsunori (d. 1729), also known as Mokunosuke, Manku, and Mambi.
  • Deme Hokan Mitsunao (d. 1743), also known as Hanzo.
  • Deme Yusai Yasuhisa (d. 1766).
  • Deme Choun Yasuyoshi (d. 1774), also known as Makunosuke.
  • Deme Toun Yasutaka also known as Untaro.
  • Deme Hanzo Yasukore.
