Basic arms & blazon[edit]

Quarterings in chronological order:

  • De Ros: De Ros, lord of the manor of w:Roos in Holderness, Yorkshire, created w:Baron de Ros in 1288;
  • Espec: Piers/Peter de Ros (d.circa 1130) of Roos in Holderness, married Adeline Espec, youngest of the 3 sisters and co-heiresses of Walter Espec (d.1155), feudal baron of Helmsley in Yorkshire and of Wark in Northumberland (Sanders, I.J. English Baronies: A Study of their Origin and Descent 1086-1327, Oxford, 1960, p.52);
  • Trusbut: Everard de Ros (d.1183) of Helmsley married Roese/Rose Trussebut (d. circa 1195), eldest sister and in her issue sole heiress of Robert Trussebut (d.1193), feudal baron of Warter and feudal baron of Hunsingore, Yorkshire; these arms are sometimes called "Belvoir" (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.69 "Belvoir", p.1033 "Trusbut"), yet no such "de Belvoir" family exists in the descent of Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, known to have been de Todeni-Bigod-d'Aubigny-de Ros-Manners. However, William d'Aubigny III (d.1236) of Belvoir married Agatha Trussebut, a sister and co-heiress of Robert Trussebut (d.1193), and their son was William d'Aubigny IV (d.1242), of Belvoir, whose daughter and sole heiress Isabel d'Aubigny married Robert de Ros (d.1285) of Helmsley (Sanders, I.J. English Baronies: A Study of their Origin and Descent 1086-1327, Oxford, 1960, pp.12,150);
  • Badlesmere: w:Giles de Badlesmere, 2nd Baron Badlesmere (1314–1338), whose eldest sister and co-heiress Margery de Badlesmere married William de Ros, 2nd Baron de Ros
