English: David Clayton was a renowned English silversmith from London active from around 1697. His work is exhibited in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. At the time, it was fashionable to collect dollhouses filled with miniature furniture, paintings and silverware and some eighteenth-century Dutch and English silversmiths, including Clayton, specialized in the making of silver miniature replicas of household objects.
