English: The Crown Building (as it was later known) was built in 1890 by Dr. Henry A. Smith. Designed by Stephen J. Meany, the original design called for 6-stories to be built, but the building was never completed beyond the third. It was razed in 1929 and replaced by the even smaller Hartford Building, still standing today.
