Basic arms & blazon[edit]

The family of the Counts of Chiny merged into the family of the Counts of Loon when w:Arnold IV, Count of Loon (died 1272/3) married the heiress Jeanne de Chiny. In 1364 the last Count of Chiny, Arnold VI de Rumigny, Count of Loon (died 1373) (Arnold IV, Count of Chiny) sold the County of Chiny and other counties to w:Wenceslaus I, Duke of Luxembourg. The arms are similar to those of the Counts of Bar (which have a field crusilly azure) (see Category:Coat of arms of the County of Bar) and were adopted at the start of the age of heraldry by the son or grandson of Albert I, Count of Chiny (died 1162), who married Agnes de Bar, a daughter of Renaud I, Count of Bar
