A 'clean label' is a label that claims that the food does not contain food additives like food coloring, flavors or preservatives. Their purpose is to give them a natural, healthy appearance. Often, however, the additives are (deliberately) hidden in substituting ingredients that contain the same additives, for example fruit or vegetable extracts.
