Barrister and mycologist Charles Pavin Bird, JP, (Westhide 3 September 1847 – 5 June 1926) was the son of Rev. Thomas Hugh Bird (1806–1868) and June Bell (1820–1851) of Drybridge House, Herefordshire. C.P. Bird's paternal grandfather and grandmother were Rev. Charles John Bird, MA, rector of Mordiford and Dynedor, and Harriet Jones. {Source: The County Families of the United Kingdom). Bird was in the Civil Service in Bengal, and Assistant Commissioner to the Punjab (19th-century British Raj in India), and called to the Bar in 1869. {Source Men at the Bar by Joseph foster). His wife was Agnes Alexa "Nonna" Banfield Bird (13 July 1859 – 6 May 1922). They had four children. (Source: Gravestone at St Martin's graveyard, Hereford). Bird was a Divisional Judge in India before his retirement.
