English: Armenian Chapel of Saint John / the Chapel of Saint John the Evangelist. On some maps (eg Schick 1863), it is the “Chapel of St James”. However, its entrance inscriptions only mention John the Evangelist: in the tympanum: Ս. ՅՈՎՀԱՆՆՈՒ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆՉԻՆ (S. Yovhannu awetarančʿin), and on the door: Ս. ՅՈՎՀԱՆՆԷՍ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԻՉ (S. Yovhannēs awetaraničʿ).^[1]
