Français : Une capitelle est une cabane construite en pierre sèche, c’est-à-dire sans mortier, dans les garrigues des villes du Gard. L'emploi du terme s'est étendu à l'Hérault, l'Aude, l'Ardèche, à côté d'autres appellations vernaculaires (baraque, baraquette, cabane, etc.).
English: A capitelle is a drystone (ie mortarless) hut to be found in the former garrigues of the cities of the Gard department. The name has spread to other departments, namely l'Hérault, l'Aude, l'Ardèche, competing with vernacular designations (baraque, baraquette, cabane, etc.).
Not to be confused with Capitals (architecture).
