  • English: The Bureau of Public Roads (BPR) was a United States federal agency operating within the United States Department of Agriculture during 1905 to 1939. (Previous agency names were Office of Road Inquiry and Office of Public Roads.)
    • In 1939, BPR was renamed as the Public Roads Administration (PRA) and shifted to the Federal Works Agency.
    • In 1949 the PRA was once again named the Bureau of Public Roads, and was placed under the Department of Commerce.
    • In 1967 the BPR was replaced by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in the Department of Transportation.
