English: The Boston Marriott, Long Wharf hotel at 296 State Street was built in 1980-82 and was designed by Cossutta and Associates. It stands on about 50014 inch square prestressed concrete piles, which were precase. These were driven down an average of 90 feet to bedrock. The bolted steel frame of the hotel is designed to resist earthquakes. (Source: AIA Guide to Boston (2nd ed.))
