English: On 29 March 1918, a German shell, fired by the long-range "Paris Gun", fell on the church, killing 92 people and wounding 68 others; the explosion collapsed the roof when a Good Friday service was in progress. This was the worst single incident involving a loss of civilian lives during the German bombardment of Paris in 1918.
Français : Le 29 mars 1918, un obus allemand tiré par un canon de type Pariser Kanonen tomba sur l'église tuant 92 personnes (liste) et en blessant 68 autres. L'obus pulvérisa le toit de la nef pendant l'office du Vendredi saint. Ce fut le bombardement le plus meurtrier de la guerre. Quelques traces de cet événement subsistent sur le pilier à l'angle ouest de la nef et du transept sud.
