Example of a black tortoiseshell ticked tabby cat.
English: In black tortoiseshell ticked coats the hair shafts have alternating black-brown or red pigmented and paler bands. The tips of each hair are always pigmented. This pattern is most often seen in cats from Asia. There is almost no striping except possibly for thin stripes on the legs, face and tail. Instead, only the agouti pattern can be seen, giving a "ticked" effect. There is darker unclear tabby pattern on the forehead, which can even be a big dot. Sometimes a darker dorsal stripe can be observed along the spine.
