The Marubeni company did occasionally try to sell hi-fi equipment under its Benytone brand. These were entry-level, but quite solidly built, Japanese-made OEM jobs. The CD33 CD player, sold in the European markets around 1986, was one of the first-generation budget players. The real first generation, released at the very start of the CD era, was very expensive. Then, around 1985, came the first budget (but not yet cheap) generation - like this Benytone player. Inside, the unit is very nicely built, with a mishmash of quality parts from different manufacturers - Rubycon capacitors, Fujitsu, Sanyo, Rohm and Yamaha digital ICs, and NJM op amps. The DAC, is apparently mounted below the main PCB and is not visible from above.
