English: The Bakatue festival in Elmina (Ghana) (literally: "Festival of the dredging of the lagune") is the annual festival for the re-opening of the Elmina-lagoon for the fishing. The "Bakatue" can be seen as the Elmina-specific coastal variant of the annual main-"Adae" festivals at the Akan of Ghana and Ivory Coast. These Adae are celebrated on local levels as "yams festival" in the interior and as "fishing festival" on the coast or on greater rivers, always with the content of a "Great-festival to the mockery of the hunger". The main content of these celebrations is the renewal of the spiritual alliance with the anchestors in connection with the respective local main food source. A such alliance allows a continuous participation of the dead in the matters of the living.

Deutsch: Das Bakatue-Festival in Elmina (Ghana) (wörtlich: "Fest des Ausbaggerns der Lagune") ist die alljährlich stattfindende Hauptfeierlichkeit zur Wiedereröffnung der Elmina-Lagune für den Fischfang. Im "Bakatue"-Fest kann man die Elmina-spezifische Küstenvariante des "Adae"-Festes sehen, welches alljährlich bei den Akan in Ghana und der Elfenbeinküste als Haupt-"Adae" gefeiert wird. Diese Haupt-"Adae"-Festlickeiten werden auf lokaler Ebene als Yams-Feste im Landesinnern und als Fischerei-Feste an der Küste als auch an größeren Flüssen gefeiert mit dem Inhalt eines "Großfestes zur Verhöhnung des Hungers". Der Hauptinhalt dieser Festivitäten besteht dabei in der Erneuerung des spirituellen Bundes mit den Vorfahren in Verbindung mit der jeweiligen lokalen Hauptnahrungsquelle. Ein solcher Bund gestattet den Toten die fortgesetzte Teilhabung an den Angelegenheiten der Lebenden.
