English: This street is named after Francisco Manuel Lumbrales de Sá Carneiro, (Born 19 July 1934 – Died 4 December 1980). He founded the Portuguese Social Democratic Party in 1974 in the year of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution and he was elected Prime Minister of Portugal in January 1980. He was in office for only eleven months after he was killed in a plane crash with his partner Ebba Merethe Seidenfaden on 4 December 1980. A parliamentary inquiry said in 2004 that there was evidence that he may have been the victim of a bomb plot after a 1995 inquiry had concluded there was evidence of sabotage, and that there had been a bomb aboard the aeroplane. The street is located in the neighbourhood of Areias de São João, and is known colloquially as 'The Strip'. Running north to south it i is full of bars, restaurants and open-air discothèques. It is a very nightlife oriented area, very popular with holidaymakers and young people. At the southern end is the popular Praia da Oura.
