Attack Squadron 72 (VA-72) was an aviation unit of the United States Navy. History:
25 November 1945: established as Bombing Fighting Squadron 18 (VBF-18) "Bearcats";
15 November 1946: redesignated Fighter Squadron 8A (VF-8A);
28 July 1948: redesignated VF-72, renamed "Hawks" in 1950;
3 January 1956: redesignated VA-72, renamed "Blue Hawks" in 1962;
30 June 1991: disestablished.
