Alessandro dal Mistro was an Italian photographer, active in Venice (Venezia) and Bologna between 1870 and 1902.

He had four children, Maria, Ida, Amalia, and Achille Carlo (b. 1892). Amalia and Ida married two German brothers from Köln (Cologne), who were also photographers, Federico Abresch and James Abresch. Maria married a journalist and artist Giuseppe (Joseph) Natali. Federico Abresch gained prominence as the photographer and disciple of St. Padre Pio of Saggio. He and Amalia dal Mistro had one son, Pio, named for St. Padre Pio. He is now a Monsignor working at the Congregation for Bishops at the Vatican. James and Ida Abresch immigrated to New York and he became a noted portrait photographer of musicians, specializing in the opera world of New York City. Joseph and Maria Natali immigrated to the USA with their daughter Iris and he continued his profession as a successful artist in New York. Achille Carlo dal Mistro was the first to fly the mail cross country in Italy. More can be found about his life http://www.earlyaviators.com/edalmis1.htm
