English: Achilles and the centaur Chiron, National Archaeological Museum of Naples (inv. No. 9109). From Herculaneum, Augusteum (so-called Basilica) - The fresco shows the centaur Chiron, Achilles' pedagogue, who teaches the still-young hero the use of the lyre. The prototype for this fresco was not another painting but a statue that Pliny the Elder remembers was exhibited in Rome in the Saepta Iulia.

Basilica) - L'affresco mostra il centauro Chirone, pedagogo di Achille, che insegna all'eroe ancora giovinetto l'uso della lira. Il prototipo per questo affresco non è stato un altro dipinto ma una statua che Plinio il Vecchio ricorda era esposta a Roma nei Saepta Iulia.
