A typical Austro-Hungarian patent of nobility from the reign (1848-1916) of Franz Joseph I. comprises the following elements:

    • Page 7 with the signatures of Franz Joseph I. and cabinet members
  • A purple velvet cover with the double-headed Habsburg eagle printed in gold
  • A round case made of wood or gilt copper, containing Franz Joseph I.'s seal
  • A metal protective case
