English: British coins can include the coins of the Kingdom of Great Britain (1707 to 1800) as well as those of the United Kingdom (1801 to date). For ancient British coins see Category:Celtic coins of Britain.

British coins were the official coinage of the whole of Ireland from 1801 until the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922. However, the new state quickly created its own coinage, then its own currency. The Republic of Ireland now uses the Euro and not the Pound.
