Title[edit]

Is the title On the Threshold of Eternity correct. Sometimes this painting is cited as: Old Man in Sorrow, sometimes as On the Threshold of Eternity. The Kröller-Müller Museum gives both titles: Treurende oude man ('At Eternity's Gate'). And here is a lithograph called Old Man with his Head in his Hands (At Eternity's Gate). Very interesting is the lower left corner with the title At Eternity's Gate. Is this the title Van Gogh gave his work of art? --Ephraim33 08:26, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think Van Gogh gave any title to the painting. In fact it is fairly common for paintings to be called with various names. The way the museum provides a mix of Dutch and English is fairly confusing though, I have kept "At Eternity"s Gate" since it is its wikiname (I suppose Wikis copied each other, or rather copied en.wp) Since it is used by the museum, I think it's okay. It could be useful to check catalogue names too.--Zolo (talk) 19:55, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
